Why Youth?
The Speaker's Passion for Our Future

Edwards is the eldest of three children, favoring her role as a loving sibling to her younger twin sisters. During childhood, she encountered the impact of her father's alcoholism and long-term health issues with Multiple Sclerosis. By her middle and high school years, Anntwanique became acutely more aware of the growing gang and gun violence concerns in neighborhoods. Before graduating high school, she became keenly more aware of the brewing crack epidemic taking place in North America. Even more significant was her survival as the teenager of an attempted rape. These among other personal encounters played a role in her development as a good citizen, thoughful helper, compassionate counselor and servant leader.

Dr. Edwards' high school yearbook notes her aspirations  to become a child psychologist or business administrator. To date, her career decisions seemingly combined both. She has worked for a runaway shelter, mental health counseling center, and directed a diversion program for juvenile offenders. She also served as a substitute teacher, middle and high school counselor and public school administrator. Additonally, she could be found within church serving as a Sunday School teacher, prayer warrior, youth prison ministry leader, and more. She has held many roles in ministry, including jurisdictional youth department president, regional youth leader, pastor and so much more. Anntwanique is devoted to helping youth and adults become healthy, productive citizens. She believes the future of our society rests in the hands of our young people and we should all invest in equipping them to excel.

Above all else, it is worth mentioning the ease with which she draws in people, especially youth and young adults. She is known for sharing unique demonstations during her speeches and weaving in humor. She quickly connects and inspires young people to take action. Like adults, young people can be found after her signature talks, asking questions and snapping photos with this transformative leader.
